This sweet pair of studs are crafted in 9ct rose gold with cute enamel Bluebirds of Happiness and measure approximately 10mm wide with post and butterfly fittings
Contemporary "Bluebird of Happiness" jewellery features a blue enamel bird on silver or gold bracelets, rings, earrings, brooches, lockets and pendants. Some Australians recall personal bluebird jewellery family stories dating back to the 1920s. It seems to have originated in Salem Massachusetts from an 1892 Daniel Low catalogue ad mentioning "Blue Bird of Happiness Jewellery", with Australian jewellers advertising in the late 1890s to early 1900s. Over the decades, bluebird jewellery has continued to grow in popularity as people have wanted to "make a child happy with a little Bluebird" and while the shape of modern bluebirds may vary slightly and differ from historical bluebird jewellery, there is still a strong family resemblance that marks this little bird as the well-loved symbol of happiness and a tradition that will hopefully continue for many years to come
