This unusual bloomed Victorian pendant (tests as 13ct gold) is set with an oval 30ct Amethyst and a modern 15ct gold bail. Blooming was a popular finishing technique for gold jewellery from 1870 to 1890 and was first documented in 1853.
Independent Valuation Supplied.
Fun Fact: In 1854 these standards of gold were broadened with the introduction of 15ct, 12ct and 9ct. Sadly we don't see too many items in 15ct & 12ct these days as these gold standards were abolished in 1932.
