A French silver match safe, the hinged lid features a lovely foliage embossed border with waved engine turn decoration in the centre section and a raised thumbpiece with a small ruby inset and a long striker panel on one side. Hallmarked with a French boar guarantee mark along with an indistinct makers mark. Circa 1880s. Weight - 56.1grams. Measures approx. 83x38mm.
